Getting to know Klara, our Content Creator

With over 6 years of communications experience across the public, private and third sector, Klara joined us in March 2019 to lead our content service. Here, Klara shares her thoughts around her first 6 months with Brown + Cooper.

What brought you to the Midlands?

I relocated! I was working at a behaviour change agency and living in Liverpool with my partner, Jonny. Jonny was placed in the Midlands for his specialist gastroenterology training programme and I was ready for a new challenge, so I started looking around at the opportunities available in the Midlands.

How did you find out about Brown + Cooper?

I came across the job description and it was clear that there was scope to help with shaping the direction of the role. There was also a real focus on collaborative working and I firmly believe that content shouldn’t be siloed, so I thought ‘yeah, this looks like a place where I could add real value’ and got in touch with Arran.

What attracted you to Brown + Cooper as a company?

When I met with Arran and Steve, it quickly became apparent that they really care about their clients and this was something that resonated with me. I also thought that B+C’s approach was very effective and their clients were varied, so I was keen to join the team!

Now 6 months in, how are you getting on so far?

I’m really enjoying it. We have a lot of clients with varying needs and audiences, so the work is diverse and fulfilling. From my first day, the B+C team made me feel really welcome and there are no egos, which is refreshing to be around.

How would you describe the culture at Brown + Cooper?

Culturally, we’re encouraged to offer challenge as and when appropriate, and this process produces more meaningful and considered outcomes for our clients. We work holistically and I think this ethos is reflected in the projects that we produce - everything is connected, and nothing is produced in isolation. The environment is friendly and relaxed but also highly focused and we’re big on sharing knowledge internally.

Outside of work, how do you like to spend your free time?

I live in Birmingham now, so I’m enjoying exploring my new surroundings and trying out new pubs and restaurants. I like cooking (especially with peas - I really love peas) and playing tennis. I have a beautiful family-dog named Zeus and I love spending time with my family and friends. I'm toying with the idea of starting to play squash, but I’m very concerned about the ball whacking me in the eye so we’ll see what happens with that one.
